Short BioR.J. Honicky is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science department at UC Berkeley, and a member of the Technology and Infrastructure for Emerging Regions (TIER) research group. His dissertation work focuses on building a distributed scientific instrument by integrating environmental sensors into cell phones. He also studies various low cost wireless and networking technologies. He has worked at Intel Research, Tensilica, Microsoft Research, Network Appliance, Airtouch Cellular (now AT&T) and various startups. He has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from UC Santa Cruz, and BA in English Literature from the University of Michigan.Head Shot
