Preparation:
READ THESE PAPERS:
Presentation by Aleksey Perfilov
Presentation by Leslie Ikemoto
The three papers on subdivision surfaces that we have read this week
are of fundamental importance
for using these surfaces in practical applications:
-
The first extends the subdivision framework to give us the needed flexibility
in modeling
by including sharp and rounded edges and creases.
-
The second introduces a flexible LOD scheme, as well as
efficient encoding for transmission and storage of these meshes.
-
The third shows how exact evaluations can be done efficiently.
Next week we read some papers that deal with texture mapping on these surfaces...
"Globally Smooth
Parametrizations…" Khodakovsky et al
"Texture
Synthesis over Arbitrary Manifold Surfaces" Wei et al
Check out the
new example files and hints on how to use the evolver!
Due Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, Midnight -- Electronic submission.
Please, include some figures in your
report and write down the final energy values for each figure.
