System Requirements

The following is required to successfully install and run CorporateTime Server 4.0 and CorporateConnect 1.1 for CDS Global Directory Server:

• the minimum hardware and software requirements as set out in the "System Requirements" section of this guide
• an installation of Control Data Systems Global Directory Server (GDS500)

Configuration of search parameters

To allow for thorough and efficient searches using the CorporateTime Server with Global Directory Server, the following parameters in both servers must be tuned for each installation. The dependencies between the parameters should be understood in order to configure the search behaviour appropriate for your organization.

CorporateTime Server search parameters

• Maximum size of returned set for a search

  This parameter, found in the /users/unison/mics/unison.ini file under [LIMITS] maxsearchresult, defines the maximum number of records returned by a directory search. The default value is 100.

Global Directory Server search parameters

• Administration Limit

  The parameter adminsize found in the /opt/mailhub/var/osi/gdstail or file sets the maximum number of entries to include in a search result. The default value is 200 entries.

  The GDS500 xmhconfig tool can be used to change this value. Open Configure | X.500 | Configure X.500 and select the tab DSA Options. The field labelled "Administration Limit" contains the value for the adminsize parameter.

Adding given names

Users need their given name to sign in to the CorporateTime client. As this value is not part of the GDS schema, it must be added in X.400 format when users are added to CorporateTime.

For example:

A DID=cn=Chris Robbins, ou=Research, o=Acme, c=US/G=Chris

A DID=cn=Thomas Addison, ou=Administration, o=Acme, c=US/G=Thomas

Resource Creation

Although this directory server permits the creation of resources above the baseDN, it is not recommended as the CorporateTime Server will not be able to access the resource after creation.
