Indian Classical Dance

I have pursued Bharatanatyam (South Indian Classical Dance) since the age of two and a half from a lineage of Kalakshetra teachers. A member of the Berkeley-based Kalanjali Dance Company, I continue my training under the guidance of K.P. and Katherine Kunhiraman. In my spare time, I conduct private and group Bharatanatyam classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I also enjoy doing lecture demonstrations at various venues in the Bay Area.

I've performed at various sabhas in India. In 1992 I toured the US and Canada as part of the International Dance Alliance's production "Krishnam Vande Jagathgurum" and received several accolades for my role as the youthful Krishna. In 2005, I performed at the prestigious San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. More recently, I conducted a lecture demonstration at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco for Educator Workshop on the Tales of Krishna.

I was a recipient of the California Arts Council "Next Generation" grant in 2000. Click here to see my profile/webpage for the grant.
