CS 3, fall 2001 |
Brian Harvey is teaching the course, and I am one of his TAs.
If you are taking or are planning to take one of the discussion sections that I teach (see below for a list), you should subscribe to my mailing list. I hope to put interesting information here throughout the semester, so stay tuned.
You can find out about what discussion sections are available here.
Here are some short instructions on getting PuTTY to work (it's available from the class homepage):
1. Download and install Exceed.
2. Start Exceed (find the "Exceed" program in the Hummingbird Connectivity folder in your start bar).
3. Start PuTTY. Before typing in the hostname and clicking "open", go to the "Tunnels" option on the left-hand side and make sure that "X11 forwarding" is selected.
4. Type in the hostname, and choose "SSH" as the protocol. Click "open".
5. Connect to dv310.cs.berkeley.edu (or cory.eecs.berkeley.edu, or ...) by typing it into the hostname field and clicking "open".
Now when you type "emacs" at the prompt, it'll come up in a separate window on your computer, complete with pulldown menus.
Both labs are in 349 Davis. Note that the place for my Wednesday 4-5 discussion section has changed.
