This is a warm-up exercise to get your curiosity flowing and get a bit of course infrastructure into place.
Spend some time examining an application problem for which parallel computing has been used. You may pick a problem from your own research area, somewhere on the web, or wherever. Build a web page briefly describing the application, the use of parallelism, and a frank assessment of its success, weaknesses, and challenges.
Mail me the URL at which I can retrieve your work. I want to copy them to a stable location, so please use relative URLs within your documents. If your page is relatively simple, just give me its URL. If there are many components, please give me a URL to an archive file (tar, zip, etc.).
Some of the spring 1999 results are still available, but many have since been removed.
