Welcome to my page!
I am a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Division
of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences,
at the University of California, Berkeley. My research interests
lie in the realms of Data Management Systems and Machine Learning. I am a member of the Database Group, and
I'm working with Prof. Minos Garofalakis.
I received my M.Sc. (2004) and B.Sc. (2002) degrees from the Department of
Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.
Before coming to Berkeley, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Database Group of the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications,
under the guidance of Prof. Yannis Ioannidis, and before that at the
Software and Knowledge Engineering Lab, of the Institute of
Informatics and Telecommunications, of the National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos".
In my spare time (that is, very rarely) I keep on practicing my music, to the great disappointment of my
patient neighbours. I play the flute and I sing in
the University Chorus.
For those of you having difficulty pronouncing my name, unfortunately its spelling is not that indicative
(unless you speak Greek). According to the English phonem table, the correct pronunciation is /irinèos/.
