Jane Fulton Suri, IDEO The presentation will briefly introduce IDEO and go on to illustrate philosophy and activities that contribute to IDEO's human-centered design practice. The emphasis will be on the early phases of product invention and definition. The presentation will share examples from real design programs, including both hardware and software projects for clients such as 3Com, Kodak, Baxter, Epson, Nokia and Ericsson, to describe some of the key methods which include: observation in context, empathic and projective methods, early visualization, scenario building, experience prototyping and iterative testing. Jane Fulton Suri Jane Fulton Suri is worldwide Director of Human Factors Design and Research at IDEO. From a background in psychology and architecture she joined ID TWO in the late '80s to establish and integrate a human-focussed practice into the company's international design offering. Since that company's merger with IDEO in 1991 she's pioneered IDEO's human-centered design approach. Jane has contributed to a wide range of design programs including web services and appliances, electric vehicles, medical products, digital cameras and wearable messaging systems for markets in many countries. She continues to build and evolve the practice, exploring new methods to assist clients through design at strategic and tactical levels. Her work has won IDEO several design and design research awards in the US and Europe - including IDSA/Business Week, International Business Design, the Essen design competition, and Industrie Form Europe.
