Some random notes: - a primary goal of these workshops is to establish working relationships between people from academia, industry and social entrepreneurs - identities are created as a result of belonging to a community - what is identity? (appear to look at identity from perspective of artifacts.) - there are different notions to identity, such as legal identity, roles and histories of interactions. For the latter, transactions between individuals can both involve *and* not involve monetary value. - there is a distinction between group reputation and individual reputation. The former addresses issues of privacy and promotes institutional longevity. - In "6 Friends," the real issues on identity involve security and access control between students/users. Access control tables are too unwieldy and don't scale well with more users (~10,000 students) - NGOs are strapped for resources, have no resources to spare to test new ideas. Also cannot afford programmers.
