I am reminded of the story of the Japanese peasant who lived above a restaurant and could afford only rice. So he'd time his meals for when the restaurant was cooking fish, and smell the fish while he was eating his rice. The restaurant owner found out about this, and had the peasant hauled before a judge. The judge had the peasant take his handful of coins and drop them from hand to hand, ruling that in exchange for the smell of his fish, the restaurant owner would be paid with the sound of the peasant's money.
