BERKEKEY INITIATIVE IN SOFT COMPUTING (BISC)

A new BISC special interest group in Earth Sciences is being formed. Dr. Masoud Nikravesh of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and BISC postdoctoral Fellow will serve as coordinator. Initial members of the steering committee are;

3. Dr. Masoud Nikravesh (ESD-LBNL, BISC-UCB) 
4. Professor George Cooper (MSME-UCB)

6. Dr. Larry Myer (ESD-LBNL) 
7. Professor Mori Anvari (BISC-UCB) 

Broadly, Earth Sciences subsumes but is not limited to the following areas; 

1. Hydrology 
2. Geochemistry 
3. Geophysics (Seismology and electromagnetic) 
4. Borehole wireline log evaluation 
5. Geostatistics 
6. Reservoir Engineering 
7. Mineral Prospecting 
8. Environment Risk Assessment 
9. Nuclear Waste Storage Risk Assessment.
