Intelligent DRAMs (IRAMs) combine processors and DRAM to provide high bandwidth for predictable access (e.g. matrix multiplication) and low latency for unpredictable access (e.g. data base). Applications include graphics, vector processing, portable and embedded products. A vector processor in a merged logic-DRAM 0.25um process would offer 5 GFLOPS (64b) and 40 GOPS (8b), and 24 MB of memory in a 256 Mb DRAM generation chip.
