Biography

I recently received my PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley, where I was part of the TIER (Technology and Infrastructure for Emerging Regions) research group. Headed by professor Eric Brewer, TIER aims to develop appropriate information and communication technologies for the people of the developing world.

Previously I received a BS in Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2002, and a Masters in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 2005.

Currently I am postdoctoral researcher with the International Computer Science Institute, and I am associated with Intel Research Berkeley, where we are investigating solutions for green, energy-efficient networks.

Research

I enjoy building and analyzing systems, and focus on wireless networks and energy-efficient networks. I am also interested in various economic and social aspects of computer networking in developing regions.
