More about me
I was born
and raised in Columbia, Maryland; graduated from Wilde Lake
High School (go Wildecats!) in 1995, and gradually drifted
west.
You know that Talking Heads song, "Once in a Lifetime": the one with the line, "And you may ask yourself, 'Well, how did I get here?'" There are times when I identify with that song. This photo was taken at one of those times, in the middle of a snow squall near the "summit" of Mt. Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula in late June 2000. That's me in the blue jacket, making like Sasquatch dodging tourists. (When the weather's nice, western Washington is the greatest place in the world; when the weather sucks ... .)
I've been in Berkeley since August 1999. Believe it or not, I miss the humidity of a Maryland summer. I even miss snow -- how's a person supposed to make sense of the year when the only seasons are "early October" and "mid-April"?
For a less personal view, my résumé is also online. Eventually, zimdars.net will host an extensive and riveting photodocumentary of the Pittsburgh years and subsequent adventures (including tasteful photos of the lovely Jill Rosenberg).
